INT.INSIDE ADRINA’S HOUSE-2003-DAY(MORNING)

A ten year old boy named ADRIAN DERNELLO is packing up his clothes in his bag.

A seven year old girl named ERIKA DERNELLO, Adrian’s sister, comes into Adrian’s room.

ERIKA
Adrian! Did you see my teddy bear? I can’t find it.

ADRIAN
(still packing his stuff)
How should I know.

ERIKA
I’ll tickle you if you don’t help me! I know that you can’t-

ADRIAN
Hey! Go to your room and don’t annoy me again!

Erika runs to her MOM and DAD.

ERIKA
Mommy! Adrian is shouting at me.

Mom and Dad are packing their stuff in a bag.

MOM
Go find your bear, honey, or you will have to leave it here.

Erika goes in her room.

Mom comes into Adrian’s room and looks around the room.


MOM
Adrian! I told you not to scream at your sister. She is your sister.

Mom is looking inside a closet.

ADRIAN
Mom! Can’t I follow you guys? I don’t want to go to Grandma’s. There’s nothing to do there!

Mom is looking under Adrian’s bed.

MOM
Adrian, you’ve been going there every summer! Grandma would be sad if you don’t go.

ADRIAN
But I want to go to Hawaii, too!

Dad comes in Adrian’s room.

Mom is looking on the desk.

DAD
You should go there next time kid.
(looking at Mom)
Did you find it?

MOM
Nope. I don’t think it’s here.
(looking at Adrian)
You should get ready because we are going out soon!

ADRIAN
Okay, okay.

Mom and Dad go out of Adrian’s room.

The whole family is going out of the house.


EXT.IN THE TRAIN STATION-DAY
Adrian and Erika get on the train. They wave their hand to Mom and Dad. The train whistles and starts off.


EXT.INSIDE THE TAXI-DAY
Adrian and Erika arrive at Grandma’s house. Adrian sees a boy who he’d never seen before. Adrian stares at him for a moment but he sees Grandma and runs to her.


INT.INSIDE GRANDMA’S HOUSE-DAY(NOON)

Adrian drags his bag up the stairs. Adrian can hear Erika and Grandma chatting together down in the kitchen with dishes clinging.

Adrian climbs to the second floor and goes in his room.

Through Adrian’s window, he sees JOSH VENDERSON hanging around the house next to Grandma’s.

Adrian keeps looking at the boy.

The boy is coming near Adrian’s house.

ADRIAN
Who’s that?

Adrian keeps examine the boy while he is unpacking his stuff into the drawers.

When Adrian is finished unpacking, he goes down the stairs.

Adrian sees Grandma and Erika baking in the kitchen.

Adrian goes out the door.

EXT.OUTSIDE GRANDMA’S GARDEN-DAY
Adrian meets the boy and asks his name. The boy says his name is Josh. Josh talks very quietly and doesn’t meet Adrian’s eyes. Adrian and Josh meet everyday in the morning in front of their houses and play together.


EXT.INFRONT OF JOSH’S HOUSE-DAY
Adrian and Josh meet together to play as usually and they decide to go in the forest. Josh doesn’t want to go but Adrian pulls him to go with him.


EXT.IN THE FOREST-DAY(AFTERNOON)
They see something flash under grass and leaves. Adrian picks it up and it is an old mirror, he sees something on the back of it with fancy cursive writing. It says to blink three times in order to get in the mirror, twice to get out of the mirror, also, it said not to tell anyone about the mirror. When Adrian is about to blink three times, Josh tries to stop him but Adrian does it.


EXT.IN THE FOREST-DAY
Suddenly something changes, the forest feels different. Adrian blinks two times and the forest feels the same as it felt.


EXT.IN FRONT OF JOSH AND ADRIAN’S HOUSE-DAY(MORNING)
Adrian tries to force Josh to go with him to the forest but Josh doesn’t want to go. Josh’s mom tells him to go with Adrian and Josh decides to go. They walk towards the forest and Erika follows them secretly.


EXT.IN THE FOREST - DAY

Adrian and Josh go into the forest. Adrian finds the mirror on top of the grass while Josh stays a little away from Adrian.


JOSH
Let’s just not do it. Whatever that is, I… I feel that something is wrong… So weird.

Adrian picks up the mirror and sees the quote on the back.

INSERT - THE MIRROR

Blink three times to go in,
Blink two times to come out.
Remember not to blurt it out.

ADRIAN
…Oh come on! You will never be able to do anything if you are that scared!
(sees straight at Josh)
Just relax and follow me.

JOSH
Uh, oh man.
(walks toward Adrian)

Adrian and Josh’s faces are reflected through the mirror.

ADRIAN
Well, here it goes.

Josh closes his eyes. Adrian blinks three times looking at the mirror.

There are sudden flicks around the background trees.

The placements of the trees change.

ADRIAN
Hey, it happened again! Look! The trees are different.

Josh slowly opens his eyes. Eyes widen.

ADRIAN (CONT’D)
Come on, there must be some other changes out of the forest.

Adrian walks out of the forest.

JOSH
(Talks to himself)
Why do I have to go.

Josh runs behind Adrian just before he disappears from Josh’s sight.


EXT.IN THE FOREST-DAY

Erika is looking at Adrian and Josh while hiding behind a big tree.

ERIKA
What are they doing there? Adrian is SO mean! I want to play with him, too.

Adrian and Josh disappear.

ERIKA
WHAT???!? Where did they go?

Erika’s eyes widened.

Erika is walking up to the place where Adrian and Josh disappeared.

Erika sees the mirror on the floor.

ERIKA
Wow! What’s this?

Erika picks up the mirror and touches it very carefully. Erika turns the mirror to the other side.

ERIKA
Hmm. Let’s see. What does it say?

INSERT - THE MIRROR

Blink three times to go in,
Blink two times to come out.
Remember not to blurt it out.

ERIKA (CONT’D)
Buhh..Blink? Yeah, blink. Blink tree? No.. Three!! Blink three.. Three times to go in? Go where? Umm. Let’s see. Blink two, I think. Blink two times to come out!! Remember…not to..b..blurt it out? What’s does blurt mean?

Erika looks into the mirror and blinks three times.


EXT.IN FRONT OF THE VILLAGE-DAY
Adrian and Josh are walking out from the forest and they see a village totally different from their town. When they are about to walk toward the village they here someone calling from the back and it is Erika. She explains to them why she came to them. Those three go to the village.


EXT.IN THE VILLAGE-DAY
When the kids go near the town people, the people are very surprised by the strangers and Adrian explains to them what had happen to them and the people seemed to understand. Adrian asks them if they knew how they came to the town and a man tells them a story.


INT.IN A HOUSE-DAY
There was a man centuries ago when there were dragons and fairies. He was the chief of the village where the people were living now. The man had bad habits such as stealing other people’s stuff and he thought that he was better than other people.


EXT.OUTSIDE THE VILLAGE-DAY
One day, he had heard about a mirror, which a magician had that gives everything the owner everything he wants. The man wanted it so he planned to steal it on a night.


INT.IN THE MAGICIAN’S HOUSE-NIGHT
The man went in the magician’s house to steal the mirror but the magician caught him and cursed him and his village. The magician made the village trapped inside of the mirror since the man had wanted the mirror so much and he cursed the man and his descendents to be selfish, to feel neglected by other people, and to be obsessed with the mirror until they learn that they are not superior to others. Also, he left a mirror which led to the other world.


EXT.IN THE VILLAGE-DAY

The kids and other village people are making a circle around the MAN to hear him speak.

ERIKA
So what happened to that bad man? And what about the curse? Is there still a curse?

MAN
Whoa, one at a time. There is an old lady who is the descendent of him. Siera, the old lady, lives up on that hill.
(Points at the hill)
You kids should be careful of her.


JOSH
Why? You think that she will kill us???

MAN
Well, not kill you but she would want to know how to go out.

There are horses coming down to the village.

SIERA ULKSFLUR, a mean old lady, is riding one of the horses with 2 GUARDS.

MAN
Uh oh. Here she comes! Everyone go inside!

The town people go in their houses or back to their work.

The three kids look at each other.

The 3 horses approach to the man.

SIERA
Where are the crops you people have promised? I need it right now.

WOMAN
But madam, we have already given you much last week. We don’t have much to eat to ourselves.

SIERA
You people are going to prepare everything you have to give me until today afternoon.
(sees the kids)
Who are you kids?.....Perhaps are you kids from the other world?
ERIKA
Yes! How did you know that?

Adrian, Josh, and other people look at her.

Siera smiles to herself.

SIERA
It doesn’t matter anyway. Have fun while you can. And you people should be preparing right now.

Siera and her guards went back to where they came from.

MAN
Kids, be careful if you need help we will be right over there. And I suggest you to go out as soon as possible. Well then, I have to go.

JOSH
Thanks.

The man goes to his garden.

ADRIAN
Erika!! You shouldn’t have told her that!

ERIKA
I wasn’t? …Why?

AIDRAN
Oh my God! What did you hear? She could force to make us tell her about the mirror.

ERIKA
But it’s just a mirror.

Adrian looks at Erika for a moment.
ADRIAN
AHHHHHHH!!!!!!

JOSH
The mirror says to tell nobody else how to come in and go out. We should be careful.

ERIKA
She doesn’t seem to be interested.

JOSH
Who knows. It looks like the curse is still on her so we’d better be careful.

Erika looks at her feet.

ADRIAN
Erika! Can’t you just think for a second what would happen next? It’s your fault if something happens to us.

Erika cries and runs away to the entrance of the town.

JOSH
Umm, I’ll go get her.


INT.IN SIERA’S MANSION-DAY
Siera orders her guards to grab the kids and take them to her mansion. She tells them to find a strange mirror somewhere in the village.


EXT.IN THE VILLAGE-DAY

Josh goes to Erika and finds her crying plump down to the ground.

Josh sits next to Erika.

ERIKA
Adrian hates me! I just wanted to play with him… And he always says bad things to me.

JOSH
I guess he is not good at expressing himself. Come on, let’s get out of here before something happens.

Erika and Josh stand up.

There are two men riding the horse coming toward the kids.

Josh and Erika see the men.

JOSH
Uh, who are they? A..Are they coming toward us?

ERIKA
Uh oh.

The two soldiers lift the kids up and put each of them on their horse.

Erika looks back.


INT.IN SIERA’S MANSION-DAY
Siera orders the soldiers to put Josh in the cell and bring Erika to her. Siera tells Erika if she tells her where the mirror is, she will let Josh and Erika let go. Erika doesn’t doubt Siera, and tells her that the mirror is in the forest. Siera tells the soldiers to put Erika in the cell and bring the mirror from the forest.



INT.IN THE CELL-DAY
Erika and Josh are trapped inside a cell in Siera’s house. They talk to each other about what will happen next.


EXT.IN THE VILLAGE-DAY
The people who saw Josh and Erika taken away tell Adrian about it. Adrian doesn’t know what to do and feels helpless but he decides to go into Siera’s house. He asks a woman to tell him where Siera lives.


EXT.IN FRONT OF SIERA’S HOUSE-DAY
Adrian hesitates in front of Siera’s house but goes for it.


EXT.IN THE FOREST-DAY
The soldiers find the mirror in the forest and carry it to the house.


INT-IN THE HALLWAY IN SIERA’S HOUSE-DAY
Adrian sneaks into the house and tries to find where Erika and Josh are but can’t find them because the house is too big. At that time he sees a maid girl who he has seen in the village and asks her for help. She takes Adrian to the cell.


INT.IN FRONT OF THE CELL-DAY
Erika sees her brother and cries out loud and the guards hear them and see Adrian and they take out the kids from the cell and bring them to Siera.


INT.IN SIERA’S GRAND ROOM-DAY
Siera sees the mirror and the three kids in front of her. She sees the mirror and looks over it carefully. Siera asks the kids how to use it and the kids are surprised because everything says on the back of the mirror. But when Siera shows them the mirror, it doesn’t say anything. Erika is about to say something but Josh stops her and tells Adrian and Erika to say nothing. Siera tells them if they are not going to tell her, they should get ready to be tortured.


INT.IN SIERA’S GRAND ROOM-DAY

Siera is sitting on her fancy chair.

The three kids are tied to a wooden chair.

SIERA
GUARDS!!
(clapping twice)

4 guards come in the room with big feathers and some sticks in each hand.

SIERA
(taking in sweet tone, looking at Erika)
Oh, girl. If you really want you and these boys to go out of this house, you should better start talking about this mirror. I promise I will let you guys go safe and sound if you tell me how to use this mirror.

ERIKA
You lier! I won’t listen to you again!

ADRIAN
Don’t tell her Erika. Whatever she does to us.

SIERA
Well, if you wish.
(gives sign to the guards)
Feel free to tell me any time.

4 guards divide into 2 and start to tickle and scratch each boy.

Adrian has hard time not trying to laugh.

ADRIAN, JOSH
WA HAHAHAHAHAH HAH!! STOP!!! HAHAHAHH…

Erika doesn’t know whether to tell Siera or not.

CAPTION - 5 minutes later.

Adrian and Josh are still laughing, tired from laughing for minutes. They have tears in their eyes especially Adrian.

Siera is just looking at them, waiting for Erika to talk.

ERIKA
Okay okay! I’ll tell you!

JOSH
D..Don’t! HAHAHAHA..E.Erika!

SIERA
Shhh! Be quiet! If you tell me, I promise I’ll let you go. Tell me.

ERIKA
You have to blink three times to go out! Looking at the mirror. Make them stop tickling Adrian and Josh!

SIERA
HAHAHAHA!! Yes!! Yes!! This is what I was looking for years and years and years since I was little! Now I can go out of this disgusting world!
(looking at the guards)
Get the kids out of my house! HAHAHAHA!!!!!

Siera goes out of the room not even looking back at the kids, still laughing.

The four guards are dragging the kids through the hallway.

ERIKA
I’m so sorry.(almost crying) I didn’t want to tell her. But I couldn’t see you guys like that!

ADRIAN
It’s okay Erika. It’s okay…

JOSH
Yeah don’t worry. There should be another way out of this mess.

The guards push the kids through the door.


EXT.OUTSIDE SIERA’S HOUSE-DAY

The three kids are sitting on the road in front of Siera’s house and they are looking down at their feet.

Erika is sobbing.

ERIKA
I’m sorry…

ADRIAN
It’s okay. It doesn’t matter.

ERIKA
Will we able to go back to our house?

Josh is putting his hands on his head. Josh closes his eyes.
ADRIAN
Of course! There should be another way. I’m sure we can find it.

Josh opens his eyes widely and gasps.

Adrian and Erika look at him.

ADRIAN
What’s wrong?? Josh!! Are you okay? Don’t panic! I’m sure we can go back to our houses!! Josh! Josh-

JOSH
Wait! Stop! Adrian!

Josh smiles big at Adrian and Erika.

JOSH
Hey you guys!! Don’t you remember?

Adrian and Erika look back at Josh.

JOSH
(whispering to Adrian and Erika)
The mirror! The mirror said blink three times to go in BUT two times to come out! Don’t you guys remember?

Adrian and Erika look at each other. Their eyes widened and mouths opened.

ADRIAN
You are right Josh!!! Oh yes!!



ERIKA
Oh yeah~ We can go back to our home!!

ADRIAN
Hey, we should get the mirror back and get out of here! Gather around!

Erika and Josh make a circle around Adrian. The kids put their heads together and talks secretly.


EXT.IN FRONT OF SIERA’S DOOR-DAY
Adrian tells Josh to meet him in the Grand Room. Josh tries to distract the guards from seeing Adrian and Erika. While Josh is talking to the guards, Adrian and Erika go in the house.


INT.IN SIDE SIERA’S HOUSE-DAY

Adrian and Erika are crunching in front of Siera’s.

Adrian puts his forefinger in front of his mouth looking at Erika.

Erika nods her head.

SIERA
AHAHAHA.
(takes a deep breath)
Here it goes!

Siera blinks three times looking at the mirror. Nothing happens. Siera looks surprised.

SIERA
What???! Why isn’t anything happening?



ERIKA
(talking quietly to herself)
Of course. What did you expect?

ADRIAN
Shush!!

SIERA (CONT’D)
Okay. I’ll try again.
(takes a deep breath again)

Nothing changes. Siera tries the same thing again and again.
Adrian and Erika hold their breath and look carefully at Siera.

SIERA
That kids.. They FOOLED me!! GUARDS!!!!!!!!

Siera throws the mirror on the floor.

Adrian and Erika hurriedly hide behind the curtains.

Guards come in Siera’s room.

SIERA
Get that kids in front of me AGAIN!!!

Siera freaks and lies down her bed.

The guards come out of Siera’s room.

ADRIAN
(whispering to Erika)
Ready?

ERIKA
(nodding)
Yes.
ADRIAN
Be calm… Go!

Erika sneaks into Siera’s room while Siera is lying down in her bed.

Erika finds the mirror, picks it up looking carefully at Siera. Erika comes out of the room and she makes a little noise coming out the door. Erika stops.

Siera hears the noise and stands up and sees Erika.

ERIKA
Uh oh…

ADRIAN
RUN!!!!!!!!!

Adrian and Erika starts running down the hallway with Siera chasing after them.


EXT.IN FRONT OF SIERA’S DOOR-DAY
The guard comes out the house to tell other guards to catch the kids and he sees Josh and tells the other guards to catch him. Josh runs in the house chased by the guards.


INT.IN THE HALLWAY-DAY
Adrian and Erika runs away from Siera to the Grand Room.


INT.IN THE HALLWAY-DAY
Josh runs away from the guards to the Grand Room.


INT.IN THE GRAND ROOM-DAY
Adrian, Erika, and Josh meet at the Grand Room and get together to see the mirror and blink twice to get out.




EXT.IN THE FOREST-DAY(AFTERNOON)
Adrian, Erika and Josh are back to their own world. Those three are so relived. They head back to their house since it’s almost dark. They each go to their own houses and promise to meet tomorrow.


INT.IN ADRIAN’S ROOM-NIGHT
Adrian is in the beds about to sleep. He thinks back to his adventure and is happy that they came back to their house safe.


INT.IN ERIKA’S ROOM-NIGHT
Erika thinks back when she stole the mirror back from Siera.


INT.IN JOSH’S ROOM-NIGHT
Josh thinks back when he was brave to distract the guards and ran away from them.


INT.IN SIERA’S HOUSE-DAY

Siera is in her room looking at the mirror.

Siera looks at the mirror and blinks three times.

She stares at the mirror.

Siera blinks three times again.

She stares at the mirror.

She blinks three times again and again and again.

SIERA
Why isn’t anything happening? How did that kids go out? I saw them blink looking at the mirror!

She blinks three times looking at the mirror several times.

Siera screams and throws the mirror out of the window.

CLASH!

SIERA
Maybe I am meant to stay here for all my life. Whew.

Siera claps twice.

One guard comes in.

GUARD
Yes, ma’am.

SIERA
We are going to have a party tonight. Invite all the people in the village. And also give them back all their food.

GUARD
Yes, ma’am!

Cut to black.

Roll credits.
